It’s all in the title, I want to know your hottest take.
For me, I think the Nissan Murano Crosscabriolet is a wonderful vehicle and I’m sad they don’t make it. Yes it’s slow, ugly, and impractical but I like it.

This may just be the mildest take, but on a Performance/Thrills per Dollar basis cars are no match for motorcycles, up to a certain price point. I can get Supercar (Hypercar?)-beating performance of <3 seconds 0-60 for $10,000 or less. Thought it might be a good reminder for people how cheap it is to go fast, and you don’t need a car for that.
But then I could die, like literally anytime.
![]() 09/27/2018 at 11:56 |

Not to take the heat from your take, but I agree. It's a vehicle different from any other, and Nissan should be applauded for going so far out of the box. Whenever I see someone with the top down at the grocery store, I think "good for you". If you were a kid, this would be the car you'd want your parents to have.

That’s why I think I like my bike so much. It takes so much more effort and skill to drive a motorcycle fast or even quickly on a mountain road than a car. Low siding into a mountain or off a cliff quickly limits how far people will push.
It makes being fast so much more rewarding when the consequences of getting it wrong are so much more severe.

That there is no such thing as a bad car. All cars are great no matter how shitty they are or no matter how objectively good they are. Every car deserves a place in this world and I will have a smile driving each and every one of them.
![]() 09/27/2018 at 12:11 |

I used to like them but I don’t really anymore, outside of a select few examples. I’ve lately been really drawn to the pre-war stuff. Right after they moved from a box with a doghouse for the engine into the precursor of cars we see today. Some just get it sooooo right.

Actually...
yes. (Though I’d go hatch
back over sedan if I had the option, and I’d go RWD over FWD if it was available.
)
Though I was thinking of my old Protege5 when I typed that out, it was far more fun than the Legacy GT I owned after it.

There is something to them that a 1970 Chevelle can’t touch. They w ere big without trying to be big just to be big. It’s like they had big stuff and wanted to make the smallest car possible. A bit of the streamlined influence of the day. It all creates a few years with certain makes where the cars turned out amazing.

I absolutely love that feeling, but inside a car instead. Taming the beast and making it dance is a feeling that can’t be matched for me.
On a bike though, I just always feel like it’s trying to dump me off at all times, and the cost of loosing traction is a lot higher for a bike.

The Protege5 wasn’t a quality vehicle, nearly impossible to repair or modify, and really quite slow, but damn it was fun to drive.
Compared to the Protege, the LGT was sluggish (in throttle response, in steering response, in braking), though once the LGT got on boost it was massively faster.
That made me realize that sharp responses to input are more fun to me than higher speeds, and spinning tires are more fun than unbreakable grip.
I’ve never driven an SX4, but I’d be willing to give one a try.

the mp5 had 130hp and 130 torque.
so really underpowered and slow yes, but it had great handling. Felt solid
The SX4 has 150hp and well built, even overbuilt. land of plastics interior, but was comfy and fun. I was the funnest car i ever had in the snow.

Yeah, my luck stinks. I try to test it as little as possible.
But maybe I’d like bikes more if I was a bit smaller. 6'2" and 250lbs is a bit big to fit on any of the motorcycles

I was the funnest car i ever had in the snow.
That’s one of my biggest problems with AWD, they’re only fun when traction is limited, and that doesn’t happen often enough in my area.
But I’ll give an SX4 a fair shake if I ever get the chance.

. I sold it after I realized that I only put 1000 miles on it in 2 years.
I still dream of getting a 70s trail bike for some off road riding, but I haven’t done much to accomplish that dream yet.

Maybe it’s because I wasn’t born in the US and didn’t grow up in a car culture for my childhood, cause I don’t think the classic car designs from the 20th Century are all that gorgeous. A few look pretty great, others look interesting, and most of them just seem a bit tired.
But I’ve always preferred angular designs over bubble designs, and I don’t like chrome.
And there’s only one reason to like the Crosscabriolet - it makes it extremely easy to determine who to stay away from in traffic.

I understand this, but I like both. FWDs are more fun in the city, and on drive pavement but I’ll take AWD on dirt and snow every time . I don’t need a huge amount of power tho. My Glanant VR-4 only made a bit over 200hp and it was plenty of fun.
![]() 09/27/2018 at 14:10 |

I think part of the problem there is t he size of the car. The Legacy is huge compared to a Protege. I honelty belive that smaller car are inherently more fun.

This is valid. My wife’s Cavalier was a hateful, vile car, but dur ing the 2 months I had to daily drive it I grew to like it because the soft suspension and turd if an engine made logging the hell out of it kinda fun.
A lso it served my wife for 6 years and 70,000 miles , we replaced it because the rocker panels fall off, but i still see it driving around town faithfully working for some one else who couldn’t afford anything else.

My LGT was an ‘05, and it wasn’t that much larger than a P5. Granted 600 pounds heavier and 16in longer isn’t a tiny change, but AWD systems add weight.
Smaller, lighter cars are a great recipe for fun, but it’s not a requirement.
And you’re right that AWD is fun on loose surfaces, but so is RWD and FWD to a similar extent
, and I rarely drive on snow or gravel anymore.

Any vehicle with a bumper height greater than a standard car should be restricted to 50mph. That way only people with a genuine need for off-road capability would pay the price of using them, and everyone would be safer.
